Linda Featherston is a lifelong Kansan, residing in Johnson County for the past twenty years. A child of two Kansas state employees, Linda attended Kansas public schools from kindergarten through graduate school. She and her husband, Bill, chose to educate their own two children through Kansas public schools as well, and are thrilled that both children are attending Kansas State University.
While owning and operating a successful independent piano studio for twenty-six years, Linda also finds time to volunteer within her profession and across her community. She currently serves on the board of both the Kansas Music Teachers Association and the Kansas City Music Teachers Association. Linda presided over the Kansas Music Teachers Association (KMTA) as its president for three years, and she continues to serve in her ninth year as the treasurer of the Kansas City Music Teachers association (KCMTA). She is active in the WIC garden, which provides food to families in need, and volunteers at her church as well as Be Smart, an educational branch of Moms Demand Action.
Linda led a Girl Scout troop for ten years, and volunteered with the Shawnee Mission School District for fourteen years. During this time, she had the opportunity to work with various charitable organizations, such as Harvesters, Hope Chest Food Pantry, and the Ronald McDonald House. In her (rare!) free time, Linda also enjoys reading, gardening, long-distance cycling, and spoiling the family’s two basset hounds.
